Day at the Zoo

This week Cameron and I took Cohen to the zoo with his Uncle Derek and Aunt Carlie!  It was a beautiful day, and we got in half price because it was Tuesday.  I have been spending so much time inside my house painting (I painted Cohen's room...TWICE, and the kitchen) so a day outdoors couldn't have come at a better time.

We had a great day, and I've been to the zoo plenty of times, but this was very exciting for me and Cameron because its like we got to experience it for the first time through his eyes, if that makes any sense, and he was amazed by all of the different animals.

Another thing that made it a carefree day was our amazing stroller.  Cameron picked out this stroller when we were registering, in fact it was the only thing he picked out and it was the first one he spotted but he was right when he said "This is the one!" because this thing could climb Everest.  It is a jogger with three wheels so it turns so easily and is so light and goes over any terrain easily.  It's the only one I've ever used, plus it looks cool.  The wheels are ridiculous.  If you are in the market for one check it out here!

Enough about that, the real story of the zoo was that it was obviously mating season.  Every animal seemed to be twitterpated, chasing around the females with there feathers puffed out and all that, and in the case of the giraffes twitterpated is a very very forgiving description.  When two of the tallest animals in the world decide its business time, they don't really get the privacy we would prefer them to have.

Twitterpated (as described in Bambi)

Flower: [about two birds fluttering around] Well! What's the matter with them?
Thumper: Why are they acting that way?
Friend Owl: Why, don't you know? They're twitterpated.
FlowerThumperBambi: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!
Thumper: Gosh, that's awful.
Flower: Gee whiz.
Bambi: Terrible!
Friend Owl: And that ain't all. It could happen to anyone, so you'd better be careful.
[points at Bambi]
Friend Owl: It could happen to you...
[points at Thumper]
Friend Owl: ...and you, and...
[Flower looks at Owl shyly]
Friend Owl: Yes, it could even happen to you!
Thumper: Well, it's not gonna happen to me.
Bambi: Me neither.
Flower: Me neither.
ANYways, I would have to say Cohen's favorite animals where the monkeys, they interacted with him a lot and it was the funniest thing to watch.  Here are pics from our zoo day.
