2013 Christmas Wishlist!

Basically I just need something from Anthropologie.  For the record, it would be so helpful if everyone I knew made a Christmas list!  I feel like I am a terrible gifter, and if each person made a list it would really help me out!  I really didn’t even need a list this year, just “something from Anthropologie” has been my “what would you like?” response.  So why the sudden obsession?  I have always been in love with going to store, and being surrounded by its hand crafted, cozy beautifulness, but they put me overboard when they sent me the December lookbook in the mail.  I have been in love with a couple of lookbooks before this one.  Ruche’s “Under the Tuscan Sun” summer lookbook, based on a summer romance in Tuscany,  changed the way I dressed forever.  I still go back and look at it from time to time and when summer comes around I pull those pieces I ordered from storage they give me that same special feeling as when I first viewed them online in the book.  Then, last Valentines Day, Free People came out with their February lookbook that was about a French girl falling in love with an American boy, and their short time together, and I fell in love with it and all of the clothes she wore!  However, I didn’t get anything from that lookbook.  I’m not tall enough to pull any of it off.  And now, this new lookbook from Anthropologie is about sisters all coming home for Christmas and...the beautiful clothes they were along the way.  After carrying the book around with me everywhere I went (for three days) and double circling everything I wanted (just for fun), I wanted to share some of my favorites!

After all, tis the season for wishing.

Halloween Party

Halloween is over now and I can’t believe it!  We talked about Halloween, watched Halloween shows, and read Halloween books every day of October!  Cohen was really into it, and I don’t think I can get him that excited for our next holiday, Thanksgiving.  Although, the first Thanksgiving-y movie came out today, about Turkeys revolting or something.  I can’t wait till he sees it and can get his mind of ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins, and especially candy!!

We attended our church party for Halloween.  He got to go around Trick-or-Treating and got to be in a costume contest!  His little cousin Clementine won the contest, she was a baby bluebird! (below)  He had so much fun seeing his other cousins all dressed up, Lilly as Zelda, Jude was a dinosaur, and his newest cousin Julian was a baby Harry Potter.  I went as a woodland fairy and had so much fun making my costume.  I was scared to make the wings but they turned out so easy!  Those coat hangers are sure hard to bend though.  I found my dress at the thrift store and picked some woodland colors from my vast collection of tights to stretch over the coat hangers.  I added some leaves and twigs and I was done!  My favorite part was the crown, because, what girl doesn’t want to wear a crown everyday.  As for Cohen, he likes to keep Halloween costumes traditional.  He thought everyone should either be a pumpkin, a witch, vampire, or a ghost!  So he chose to be a pumpkin, and did not want to take his costume, even the hat, off!

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween!

Sunday Style: Plaid Cadet

And so another week of pregnancy goes by smoothly.  I am 24 weeks now and feeling great, a little tired, but overall great.  I am so happy to have another little boy to dress up.  I always hear people talking about how it’s so hard to find cute boys clothes, but with my go-to store, Zara, I find myself reducing my shopping cart by half because I can’t afford all of the adorable clothes I want for him.  The good thing is, my next son will have some handsome hand-me-downs coming his way!  Boys are so much fun, and I know Coes will be the best big brother, it melts my heart just imagining the first time he holds the baby and kisses him on his little cheek.

Dressing myself, on the other hand,  is getting more and more tricky, especially for church.  I got this military inspired dress last year and wanted to hurry and wear it before I get too big, and by the looks of these photos, I think I may have waited too late as it does appear to be a bit snug and shorter than last year!  I have gained some weight but, hey, I guess I have a good excuse!  Not to mention I have somehow avoided trying a Big Mac my entire life until I recently did.  BIG MISTAKE.  There is a reason those things are such a big deal.  I have had only two since I have been pregnant and lay all the blame on them for my “other than belly” weight gain.  That, and I have been completely  obsessed with build-your-own-burrito places lately!  Moes, Bubba Ritas, and Chipoltle Grill are always calling my name. I could eat a veggie burrito with queso and extra cilantro every day of my pregnant life.

With this outfit, I wanted to mix the military with plaid, two trends that are so popular and fun this Fall.  A military or preppy plaid has such a polished scholarly feel, that makes me want to bring out the knee socks and pull my hair up into a tight pony.  These autumnal tights are so fun and I love the unique color.  I think they brought just the right amount of color to an otherwise dark outfit.  Add some red lips and its a look that could be my uniform, (if I were forced to wear one.)

The Pumpkin Patch

Everyday in October Cohen has reminded me that he wanted to go to the pumpkin patch, just in case I was to forget. I was so excited to tell him yesterday that today was finally the day we were going! He wanted to get dressed for the pumpkin patch as soon as I told him, even though we weren't leaving for hours. It is his excitement that makes everything we go do 100,000,000,000 times more fun. I knew he would love this pumpkin patch because they had a hay ride to the patch and a petting zoo, and I knew there would be pumpkins everywhere his eyes could see, basically his wildest dream come true since pumpkins are his favorite. He got to go with his grandparents and his cousins, and we all had a great time, especially the part where we ate the homemade pies!

Today, Cameron and Cohen and I had a great time at Heritage Day, our towns fall festival.  We ate yummy festival foods, chatted with some locals over hot chocolate at the new coffee house, rode a train, listened to music, browsed antique stores, saw a lot of pumpkins, and enjoyed our time together as a family.  The rest of the weekend includes a photoshoot, watching college football, and going to spend time with my family tomorrow at Birthday Sunday.  What a wonderful fall weekend we have had!

Sunday Style: Mommy and Me + a Bump!

After my long hiatus from Things Like Skeleton Keys I decided it was time to start blogging again. Even though not a soul mentioned missing it, its back anyway. Im happy no one made me feel bad about it, but I did feel kinda bad just stopping for such a stretch. After finally feeling some relief from nausia and sleepiness, I not only have regained energy but also my long lost zest for living, and dressing. I guess I should mention that in my last post, at the beach, I was PREGNANT! But I didn't know it yet! So now, 22 weeks with child I am spilling the beans, and we are beyond excited about it! We found out at 18 weeks that it is a BOY! I was hoping for a little boy again, although I can't wait to have a daughter one day, but I just really really wanted a boy. Maybe because things have been so lovely with Cohen. So really in news that is all you have missed, the rest, which involves unpretty pregnancy symptons, can be left unblogged about! Wait, there is other news, I became an aunt again to my beautiful nephew Julian, who got blessed today in the same outfit Cohen and Cameron and Cameron's dad wore, so sweet. Speaking of outifts, here is my first bump photo documented on the blog, and many more to come!
This little pumpkin goes everywhere with us! He calls it "Happy Pumpkin" and his Nanna bought it for him while we were grocery shopping. The poor thing is reaching its limit, and we might have to get a replacement soon, but boy has this pumpkin fulfilled its life dream, no other pumpkin has ever been loved as much! Along with Happy Pumpkin, Cohen is obsessed with all things Halloween. All we watch is pumpkins singing on youtube, as well as other Halloween cartoons. His favorite song to sing right now is Thriller. It is so funny, and I can't wait to take him to the pumpkin patch and trick-or-treating! With many fall activities and lovely fall outfits to be shared, I am happy to be back blogging. It makes me happy, and that long break I took was just what the doctor ordered! Outfit Deets- On Momma- Dress (ShopRuche) Sweater (Urban Outfitters) Shoes (last season, Blowfish) On Cohen- All from Zara Baby Boy...of course :)

More From Our Holiday by the Sea

I had to do another shoot with this adorable little boy while at the beach.  We had to many beautiful days and long evenings and the beautiful scenery was begging for me to make use of it.  I did a shoot of him on the same beach last year, if you want to see how much he has grown, click HERE.

Most of my trip was spent with my Mom and Stepfather and the kids, (Jud, Nick, Erica and her friends) and of course Cohen.  I so appreciated them cooking us delicious lunches and dinners everyday.  Between that and Kilwins, I gained all of my pre-vacation weight back, so worth it.  We had a relaxing time and everyday was beautiful.  We spent so much time at the beach and the pool and it never got old.

The tail end of my trip was a mini vacation with Cameron, Carlie, Derek, Clementine, and Sadie.  They came down Friday and we stayed for a couple of days.  We swam in the ocean, went out to eat, a lot, and survived a beach storm on our last day.

It was so much fun to spend so much time at the beach with a bunch of loved ones.  Here are some photos from the other side of the trip.  I wish I had more photo's other than us just sitting in our hotel room the first day.   Next time, I'll take more interesting photos, if there are any to take, maybe we are just boring haha.

Somehow Carlie and Derek and Clementine managed to not be in any of these!   But trust, me they were there.  I will never get tired of Panama City, I have been coming here every summer since I was a baby and now my son is carrying on the same tradition.  It feels good going back every year.  Seeing it change and grow,  passing the Flamingo hotel I stayed during middle school vacation, the soft and sticky sand, and never actually finding a complete shell wash up on the shore, but there is always hope for that I guess, after 27 years.  It is one of my favorite beaches, mostly for all of the memories I have made there.  I can't wait for Cohen to make tons of memories too!

Tomorrow I am headed to Birmingham all day for a photo shoot, a family reunion, and to see Superman in imax.  The most eventful weekend we have had in a while, haha.
