Sunday Style: Baby Doll

Dress (similar 1, similar 2) Shoes (Modcloth) Bracelet (from Mom) Necklace (AndMary

First, I would like to thank this dress for getting me more compliments than ever on a Sunday.  Next I would like to thank these shoes for being so adorably perfect.  Lastly, I would like to thank Church, for without it I would rarely have an opportunity to get fancy, and for many many many other reasons of course.

I so enjoy my new class I teach on Sundays.  I have about five 9-10 year old's and they are so funny and I love to teach them!  They laugh at my Moroni's Macaroni jokes, especially my Italian chef accent, and always ask me to draw them portraits after class.   They make me so happy.  I feel so blessed I get spend time with them to get to know them.

So tomorrow is Memorial day, Cameron is off so Cohen and I are very happy.  Hopefully we will come up with something fun to do.  Do you have any big plans for Monday?  Do they involve a lake and speedboat like I want mine too?

Thrifted Tuesday: Sunflowers and Gingham

I make this pose a lot!
We have been taking a lot of family walks lately.  Now that Cameron is home he can join us at the bird sanctuary in the afternoon, where we go several times a week so David, my father in law, can get some good exercise in.  Each day, he walks a little bit further and it is amazing to watch.  Cohen loves running up and down the, ahem,"troll bridge", thanks Dora, and feeding itsy bitsy spiders bread instead of the evil geese.  Between playing with the kids every morning at the gym nursery, and this walk, he keeps a pretty consistent nap and sleep schedule.  I love that he gets to play with kids everyday and also get outside and enjoy nature every day as well.  He loves learning new things and getting out and about like this is a great way to explore the world around him!

These pants.....I can barely fit in to them and last year they were loose!  Hopefully I will be able to shed some inches with all of this walking and gym time.  I went through a slugsworth period pretty much all winter and it is taking its toll!  I thrifted them last year and they are my go-to summer pants, so I need to get comfortable in them again!

I thrifted this top recently and fell in love with the print.  Since it was a bit large, I decided to tie the front ends together to give it a more tailored fit.  I love the cute little sleeves!  I am dying for a yellow dress or skirt in this pattern!

My mom found a huge loot of picnic baskets at a yard sale and this little purse was a apart of that find.  It's a little wooden clutch that is full of charm and I love her so much for giving it to me!!

Notice my sunflower crown?  Its kind of hard not too I'm sure.  I was bored one night and wanted to do something crafty, so I made three different flower headbands from old headbands I wasn't using.  Wearing flowers in my hair is my favorite, it adds the perfect amount of whimsy when you need it.  Cam called me his sunflower princess, and any time I get called a princess, its a good day.

On Mommy:  Top and Jeans (thrifted!)  Flower Crown (DIY)  Flats (Threadsence)  Clutch (Yard Sale, from my Momma)

On Cohen:  Shirt and Jumper (thrifted!)  Curls (I have no idea)

Linking up on What I Wore Wednesday!   It is a super fun link up party, be sure you check it out!

The Dress, The Shoes

Necklace (Yard Sale)  Dress ( Dear Creatures)  Shoes (Swedish Hasbeens)  Knee Socks (Modcloth)
I haven't posted an outfit in so long.   Thus explaining my overdramatic poses, I have been out of practice.   My main go to photographer, my husband, is finally back in town for a while from Wisconsin and at my disposal to take photos whenever I wish.  Thrilling for him I'm sure. :)   I wanted to model my Mother's Day gifts, aren't these shoes darling?  He did a great job adhering to the, ahem, list.   I adore this flowy, cutesy dress and when I paired it with some knee socks I felt the outfit was perfectly charming.  Our town has a huge yard sale weekend every year and I made a point to go and find something I loved.  I came back about 5 dollars poorer and a key necklace, a 70's floral bag (It even came with a brief history from the nice owner who was selling it to me), and a couple of sewing hoops richer.  I love living in a place where yard sales are taken so seriously!  I think every house for 10 miles was having one.

We had a wonderful weekend that began with picking up Cameron from the airport.  The next day we went to the zoo with my family and Cohen had a terrific time.  Having him makes those kind of outings ten times more exciting than they normally would be.  Last night we had a delightful double date at Buffalo Wild Wings with Derek and Carlie.  I needed those laughs that can only come from Cameron's exaggerated story telling.  I missed him so much!

I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday!  Im linking up with:

An Engagement Shoot

Engagement shoots are some of my favorite photo's to take.  Some of the best ones taken are usually found between the posed shots.  Yesterday I spent some time with this lovely couple, John and Rachel, and they made my job so easy!  The couple is planning a destination wedding in Jamaica this summer by themselves, can we say romantic!?

Around Our Home

What makes a house a home?.  I don't know why I hang random things where I do, or repaint a room 5 times, but after I am done arranging, cleaning, and organizing, I look around and love everything I see.  Sure I am plotting on how to score a new couch, and regretting that flat top stove I got, but every inch of this house I love.  (Except the barren basement and bottom left corner of the hall closet, I hate those two parts).  I am thankful for my husband for providing me with such a lovely home that I love, and that we get to decorate however we want, with stuff we love.  If I ever moved, I would really miss this perfect little house.  It is where we brought our baby home, and is where we are growing everyday as a family.

The couch has become Cohen's jungle gym, and his daily nap station, unless I am lucky enough to get him to his crib before he surprises me by falling asleep early.

As for the three pairs of shoes, they are our favorite pairs.  Cohen would wear his rainboots everywhere if he could!  I love the unconventional family portrait it is, and want to get it framed :) I am sure that the little mouse who lives in our house will set out his teeny little mouse shoe's up there too pretty soon.

That little photo of me and Cam was an engagement photo that was set on our dining tables at our wedding.  It is hanging by the window in our bedroom.

I organized my shoe closet, putting away all of my winter/fall shoes in the suitcases in our room.  (Those suitcases are not just for decoration!) And I also organized my jewelry so only my everyday stuff is out and ready for me to throw on in a hurry.  Pretty Pretty.  Swiper no swiping.

Cohen's favorite toys are now household decor.  Everything else gets put away everyday but the trains and his Batman and Joker.  He is always playing with these guys and the trains!!  I think the trains are so cute so I don't mind at all.

We are on the go a lot more now that we have the car during the days!  I keep my sunnies, keys, and Aldi's quarter by the door so I can be ready to go!  I have been loving taking Cohen grocery shopping, to the gym, and to the park.  It is fun having free use of the car and we are taking full advantage until Daddy comes home!  (Can't wait till you come home babe!)

Cohen loves his great grandmothers and points to this photo in our doorway and says their names, Nanny Bush, and Zizzi (Mimi).

Our front yard is always COVERED in clovers.  I love them.  And yes I KNOW they are weeds.  And yes, I know my neighborhood probably hates me.  But,  1. Our lawnmower is broken.  2.  I can't afford to pay someone to cut it everyday when they grow back by the next morning.  3.  They feel really good to Cohen's bare feet.  4. They smell good.  5.  I am looking into hiring a landscaper so they shouldn't be around long.  Plus I think they are pretty.  Our house is being taken over by weeds.

I love these little moments (fireplace and doorway decor) like these around the house, I think they provide so much interest and insight to who we really are.  I think they give a home soul.

Finally, look at my superman on the couch, he just woke up so it's time to make him some dinner.  He keeps talking about pizza.  We will see. :)
